Alejandra Acevedo-De-los-Ríos is an architect, doctoral researcher at the University of Louvain and researcher at the Yale Center for Ecosystems + Architecture. Her work investigates urban metabolism, housing and sustainability in informal settlements, with particular attention to food dependency, urban agriculture and the water–food–energy–waste nexus.

Her research combines the Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism, system-dynamics modelling, household and spatial data, remote sensing and life-cycle assessment. Case studies in Lima examine paid and unpaid work, land use, energy, water, waste and food as interconnected components of neighbourhood metabolism. Her current work develops operational frameworks for integrating urban agriculture into informal settlements as a leverage point for circular resource flows, food security and socio-ecological resilience. Supported by an ARES doctoral scholarship, she also brings extensive experience in architectural education and research in Peru and contributes to international work on sustainable housing and urban resilience.
