Chiara Palermo is a philosopher, curator and lecturer in aesthetics and philosophy of art at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where she is affiliated with the ACTE research unit. She holds a doctorate in philosophy and has taught aesthetics and art philosophy in Paris and Strasbourg.

Her research investigates sensible experience and becoming, the history of dualisms in Western thought, the status of images and the relationships between temporality, landscape and perception. As a visiting professor and collaborator of the Urban Metabolism Lab, she introduces philosophical and aesthetic perspectives into discussions of landscape, agency and socio-ecological relations. Her contribution broadens the Lab’s interdisciplinary inquiry by asking how environments are experienced, represented and made meaningful, and how conceptual traditions shape distinctions between human subjects, material worlds and other forms of life.
