Daniela Perrotti is Professor at the University of Louvain’s Faculty of Architecture, Architectural Engineering and Urban Planning and a member of the Board of Directors of the Louvain Research Institute for Landscape, Architecture and Built Environment. She founded the Urban Metabolism Lab as an interdisciplinary platform linking engineering, environmental science, geography, data science and the social sciences.

Her research advances the conceptual and methodological foundations of urban metabolism and translates them into spatial planning applications and decision-support tools. A central concern is the relationship between resource flows and provisioning infrastructures, ecosystem services, natural capital, and human wellbeing. She has led and supervised internationally funded projects across Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America and currently serves as Principal Investigator for the University of Louvain’s participation in the Horizon Europe project CARING NATURE. Her publications include peer-reviewed research on urban metabolism modelling, green infrastructure, nature-based solutions, urban resource governance and the integration of quantitative and design-based knowledge.
