Marlène Boura is an environmental data specialist and former postdoctoral researcher in the Urban Metabolism Lab. From 2021 to 2023, she worked on CO-HABITAT, an Innoviris-funded project investigating how urban planning and design can better recognise non-human agency in the Brussels-Capital Region.

Her contribution focused on the ecological and data-driven dimensions of the project, including the analysis and interpretation of spatial biodiversity information and its translation into cartographic and design knowledge. Working alongside researchers in urbanism, landscape architecture and ecology, she helped connect habitat conditions, species presence and urban form with questions of planning and governance. This interdisciplinary work supported the project’s broader objective of moving beyond human-centred planning models and identifying ways in which maps and design tools can represent multispecies relations. She now applies her expertise in environmental information and data consultancy.
