Roberta Pistoni is Associate Professor at the École nationale supérieure de paysage de Versailles–Marseille, a researcher at LAREP and an external collaborator of the Urban Metabolism Lab. Trained as an architect, she studies the social and landscape transformations produced by ecological and energy-transition policies, new technologies and changing design practices.

Her research focuses on landscape planning and design, energy landscapes, infrastructure, climate mitigation and sufficiency, with comparative work in France, the Netherlands and Italy. Her doctoral research examined how urban metabolism and related concepts can inform landscape approaches to energy transition. She has continued this work through publications on the relationship between quantitative metabolic analysis and urban landscape, co-design tools for shared energy transitions and the role of landscape in public policy. Her contribution to the Lab strengthens the connection between urban metabolism, territorial design and the institutional processes through which transitions are negotiated and implemented.
