This case study explores how circular-economy principles can inform the transformation of Joseph Bracops Hospital. Healthcare buildings are treated as long-term material stocks whose capacity to adapt influences both embodied impacts and the continuity of medical services.

The research applies a reversible-building-design perspective across the building life cycle. It examines spatial adaptability, construction assemblies and the possibility of disassembling, recovering or reusing components instead of relying on demolition and replacement.

The study connects circularity with the operational realities of healthcare and provides an early foundation for the Lab’s Circular Healthcare Environments strand and the CARING NATURE project.
