An analytical framework for conceptualising agency across industrial- and social-ecology urban-metabolism studies was presented at RGS–IBG 2024. The presentation compares how urban-metabolism traditions define agents and agency and proposes a framework for integrating conceptual and modelling approaches. The discussion centres on Agency, Industrial ecology, Social ecology, and Urban metabolism.

The contribution is developed through Conceptual analysis, literature review, and comparative framework development. The geographical or conceptual scope is Global research literature. It was presented at RGS–IBG Annual International Conference 2024, Imperial College London during 27–30 August 2024.

The contribution reflects the Lab’s interdisciplinary approach, combining quantitative and qualitative evidence to translate urban-metabolism research into planning, design, governance or policy.
