This chapter examines how socio-ecological dynamics can be co-produced through architectural and urban practices. Published in a volume devoted to regenerative approaches in Wallonia–Brussels, it frames environmental transition as a collective process rather than as an exclusively technical intervention.

The contribution connects design practice with governance, institutional arrangements and the participation of actors involved in shaping urban environments. It highlights the need to understand how environmental objectives are negotiated, translated and implemented through concrete spatial practices.

Within the Urban Metabolism Lab’s research programme, the chapter contributes to work on agency, informality and collaborative transition. It reinforces the importance of connecting resource systems with the actors and practices through which socio-ecological change becomes possible.
