This study applies the project’s data framework to informal settlements in Kumasi, Ghana, testing how nature-based solutions can be assessed in a context of limited formal data and uneven infrastructure provision.

The application combines settlement-level information, local observations and resource-flow indicators to identify existing ecological practices and potential interventions. It examines how water, waste, food, vegetation and land-use conditions interact, while paying attention to governance and the capacity of residents to maintain or benefit from proposed solutions.

The case study demonstrates the practical value and limits of the framework. It shows how a structured assessment can support locally grounded planning while making data gaps and distributional questions explicit.
